Like I said, my wording wasn't up to scratch to make it clear enough. It's deleted now and I think I'll keep to writing superficial articles from now on to avoid these kinda misunderstnadings....

adiosAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4951242412489879248.post-87086890937331257082008-04-22T19:02:00.000+10:002008-04-22T19:02:00.000+10:00" A popular misconception is that physical or ment..." A popular misconception is that physical or mental ailments are a result of old age. A fading memory, dementia, aches and pains are not a result of ageing! There have been so many times when I’ve heard, “oh, it’s just old age”. The only things that are a result of old age are wrinkles and grey hair. Yup! All other conditions and ailments are preventative and are a product of mistreatment or simply not knowing how to avert them."

This above is what you said, posted or found in your research. When looking further afield and from working in an aged care facility, particulary where the high risk dementia patients were, it is known that not ALL forms of dementia can be prevented. What I wrote isn't harsh, it is from lots of research and working with dementia patients.Nunyaahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00627939958188041617noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4951242412489879248.post-41172844011008481152008-04-22T17:28:00.000+10:002008-04-22T17:28:00.000+10:00That paragraph was discussing ailments purely rela...That paragraph was discussing ailments purely related to the ageing process. Maybe my wording wasn't up to scratch to make that clear enough. However, there are a few things we can do to prevent dementia; intake of omega 3 fatty acids, gingko biloba, vitamin E, exercise, and 'brain exercises' such as crosswords etc.
"Wrinkles and grey hair are NOT symptoms of or caused by old age alone" - I never said they were caused by that ALONE.
My information is from psychology textbooks from my university - a very legitimite source.
I'll make sure I'm very thorough with my wording next time. "smacks of ignorance" is a bit harsh though. I don't write things that aren't from legitimate sources.

Peace!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4951242412489879248.post-3318659481016040272008-04-22T14:15:00.000+10:002008-04-22T14:15:00.000+10:00Top post, Nunyaa and very true.Top post, Nunyaa and very true.James Highamhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14525082702330365464noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4951242412489879248.post-88624212078831283262008-04-22T13:48:00.000+10:002008-04-22T13:48:00.000+10:00It certainly is one of the cruelest diseases human...It certainly is one of the cruelest diseases humans can get. Any form of dementia is the cruellest disease and of course most forms are not preventable, as you say.
