I Will be back

For the last few days, I have been absent , not much happening to post about in here. I realise we all go through patches where it becomes difficult to find material to write about. Outside influences do not help either.

All the computer problems have been sorted, I find a new program thing on here where the whole layout makes it look different and it is suppose to make things faster. Well that remains to be seen, am sceptical of all the ones who fiddle with my computer.

How frustrating can the day be , waiting to use the bathroom, dammit how long does one female take to brush hair, clean teeth. Thirty minutes later, with 5 minutes to spare in getting the boys to school, I get to have a shower and make sure am presentable to the outside world. I can not understand how some women take longer than 10 minutes in the bathroom. It's just like going to the toilet, you get in , do your thing and get out. Time wasters in the toilet and bathroom irritate the hell out of me, and isn't a good start to the day.

With noise levels at maximum I ran away into blogs and was pleasantly surprised to see that JMB from Nobody Important had awarded me the following and as with previous award given I wish I could give this back to JMB but award or not, she knows I enjoy her site.

There are just a couple of rules :

1. Tag 5 people.

2. 4 have to be dedicated followers of your blog

3. One has to be someone new or recently new to your blog and live in another part of the world.

4. You must link back to whoever gave you the award.

I choose Kate , Crushed, Mutley, Pam, Grendel and just for good measure I'm nominating Lordsomber and Lord Nazh. I realise some don't like awards to be given, take it as appreciation for what you do :)

Arte y Pico Award

Wednesday , Pam from Life On a Southern Farm awarded me the Arte y Pico award for which I am very thankful and flattered. I think I have this correct where I have to choose 5 bloggers to also hand out the award. I would have said Pam but she has already received this a few times and rightly so. There are so many in my links who are deserving , would like to nominate you all as the reason you are there is because I find your blog interesting , I may not agree with all that you write but have the respect to accept and acknowledge differences.

Cherie from Cheriesplace as her blog is a mixture of fun things to see and read about and she touches base with the rights of the 'ordinary' person. Cherie shows us not to be afraid of experimenting with photos and has produced awesome results.

Welshcakes from Sicily Scene who teases us with delightful foods and recipes from Sicily, making me envious of the lifestyle there. Occasionally Ms Simi makes her presence known to remind us she is the Mistress in charge.

Ginro from An Englishmans Chronicles, although he writes some serious issues, I find his sense of humor and style of writing with the use of bigger words easy to understand.

JMB from Nobody Important simply because her caring nature shines through on various posts and the many different topics of which she writes are always insightful.

Jams ODonnell from The Poor Mouth. Jam has one of the best blogs I have read. Ranging from topics that are humorous to heartfelt, arty to serious, Jams mixes it up with something for everyone.

There is only supposed to be 5 but I am thinking of Megan from Imaginif, Crushed, Grendel, Calum, and Mutley who cracks me up! you all are deserved of this award also.

RULES
1) You have to pick 5 blogs that you consider deserve this award, creativity, design, interesting material, and also contributes to the blogger community, no matter what language.
2) Each award has to have the name of the author and also a link to his or her blog to be visited by everyone.
3) Each award-winning, has to show the award and put the name and link to the blog that has given her or him the ward itself.
4) Award-winning and the one who has given the prize have to show the link of “Arte y Pico” blog, so everyone will know the origin of this award.
5) To show these rules.

TOKEN AWARDS AND ARTISTS

When I think of Awards and Artists and what do they really mean, the whole process of who decides winners and then come the suck up speeches, I refer to Lordsomber's post, On artists and Awards....this post was done back in May 2006 but the meaning is still so prevalent today. Here is a sample and why I appreciate the words written, full post can be viewed at above link.

The stringpullers of stardom seem to think they have the last laugh, though they are fools just as much as our “winner” who waves his trophy in faux-triumph in the shallow spotlight. Mere awards are but belt notches on modern culture’s muffin-top waistline on any particular day. It takes time itself to know what art is timeless, and what will become canon.

So go forth, young artist. Be thoughtful. Be prolific. And when sidlers prod you to dilute your craft to impress backstage peers or to ham it up to the cheap seats, just think to yourself, “You can’t please everyone, so why should I?”
And then open your mouth and say, in the sage words of L.L. Carter onstage at the glitzy Coca-Cola Music Awards, “F### you.”

DARWIN AWARDS of 2007 (check last one)

In case you don't know it's an annual honor given to the person who did the gene pool the biggest service by killing themselves in the most extraordinarily stupid way.

Last year's winner was the fellow who was killed by a Coke machine which toppled over on top of him as he was attempting to tip a free soda out of it. And the nominees this year, in reverse order, are

7. A young Canadian man, searching for a way of getting drunk cheaply because he had no money with which to buy alcohol, mixed gasoline with milk.
Not surprisingly, this concoction made him ill, and he vomited into the fireplace in his house. The resulting explosion and fire burned his house down, killing both him and his sister.

6. A 34-year-old white male found dead in the basement of his home died of suffocation, according to police. He was approximately 6' 2" tall and
weighed 225 pounds. He was wearing a pleated skirt, white bra, black and white saddle shoes, and a woman's wig. It appeared that he was trying to create a schoolgirl's uniform look. He was also wearing a military gas mask that had the filter canister removed and a rubber hose attached in its place. The other end of the hose was connected to one end of a hollow tube approx. 30" long and 3" in diameter.
The tube's other end was, for reasons unknown, inserted into his rectum and was the cause of his suffocation. Police found the task of explaining the circumstances of his death to his family very awkward.

5. Three Brazilian men were flying in a light aircraft at low altitude when another plane approached. It appears that they decided to moon the occupants of the other plane, but lost control of their own aircraft and crashed. They were all found dead in the wreckage with their pants around their ankles.

4. A 22-year-old, man was found dead after he tried to use octopus straps to bungee jump off a 70 foot railroad trestle. Fairfax County police said Eric
Barcia, a fast-food worker, taped a bunch of these straps together, wrapped one end around one foot, anchored the other end to the trestle at Lake Accotink Park, jumped and hit the pavement. Warren Carmichael, a police spokesman, said investigators think Barcia was alone because his car was found nearby. "The length of the cord that he assembled was greater than the distance between the trestle and the ground" Carmichael said. Police say the apparent cause of death was "Major trauma."

3. A man in Alabama died from rattlesnake bites. It seems that he and a friend were playing a game of catch, using the rattlesnake as a ball. The friend, no doubt a future Darwin Awards candidate, was hospitalized.

2. Employees in a medium sized warehouse in west Texas noticed the smell of a gas leak. Sensibly, management evacuated the building, extinguishing all potential sources of ignition; lights, power, etc. After the building had been evacuated, two technicians from the gas company were dispatched.
Upon entering the building, they found they had difficulty navigating in the dark. To their frustration, none of the lights worked. Witnesses later
described the sight of one of the technicians reaching into his pocket and retrieving an object that resembled a cigarette lighter. Upon operation
of the lighter-like object, the gas in the warehouse exploded, sending pieces of it up to three miles away. Nothing was found of the technicians, but
the lighter was virtually untouched by the explosion. The technician suspected of causing the blast had never been thought of as 'bright' by his peers.

AND THE WINNER.....(ouch....)

1. Based on a bet by the other members of his threesome, Everitt Sanchez tried to wash his own "balls" in a ball washer at the local golf course.
Proving once again that beer and testosterone are a bad mix, Sanchez managed to straddle the ball washer and dangle his balls in the machine. Much to
his dismay, one of his buddies upped the ante by spinning the crank on the machine with Sanchez's balls in place, thus wedging them solidly in the
mechanism. Sanchez, who immediately passed his threshold of pain , collapsed and tumbled from his perch. Unfortunately for him, the height of the ball
washer was more than a foot higher off the ground than his testicles are in a normal stance, and his balls were the weakest link.

Sanchez's balls ripped open during the fall, and one testicle was plucked from him forever and remained in the ball washer, while the other
testicle was compressed and flattened as it was pulled between the housing of the washer, and the rotating machinery inside.

To add insult to injury, Sanchez broke a new $300.00 driver that he had just purchased from the pro shop, and was using to balance himself. Sanchez
was rushed to the hospital for surgery, and the remaining threesome was asked to leave the course.

Note: This last one wouldn't normally count, because the idiot didn't die. But because he cannot reproduce as a result of his qualifying act of stupidity, we have allowed it.
