Diary of a Nun and a cute Ass...

A visual diary of what has been going on in the last 15 months. Some interesting and some no so especially the first photo. The result of a fight with an industrial fan. Needless to say one does not take the covers off and leave them off any more.

This is Flying Fish Point after some heavy rains. I am not sure if you can notice that the sea is actually brown with all the mud and silt being stirred up. Great place for beach combing.

After being cooped up in the house during our monsoon season, a drive around our local area to get out and about, we stopped at Paronella Park. The falls were raging and no I did not venture out onto the swinging bridge this time. A beautiful Spanish castle amongst the rain forest and very close to where I live.

This little critter found his way into our bathroom. Only noticed he was there due to the croaking sound which was quite loud. He was brown and had these greenish lumps all over his skin. I have never seen a frog such as this before and was quite happy for one of the boys to remove him as frogs are not my favorite things.

Here is the cutest ass you will ever see. I got this photo in an email but had to add it simply because it is cute, no other reason.

My favorite dish of Asian salad and lamb chops mmmm then polished off a simple lemon cheesecake. Remember the old saying, a minute on the lips, a lifetime on the hips. Oh well life is tough sometimes and I had no hesitation in accepting the above two dishes.

Felix still likes to hang his tongue out like a dog, he spent many nights on my bed sleeping and annoying me over the past year but this lovable cat kept me company during some of the darkest days and no matter what he does, including tearing up foam boxes creating an extraordinary mess... he will always be special to me.

Last year in the spirit of Halloween, these fake vampire teeth had the boys howling with laughter and also myself. The only time you will see me wearing black lipstick. Can't wait until next year to do something again, although my effort was very simple it was still a lot of fun.

BIG RINGS......

Squid rings that is:

This huge squid is by no means the biggest specimen caught but for normal anglers it represents the "big one" that many fisherman quite often brag about.

This squid was caught in a net that was being cast for bait. All I could think of was yum, calamari rings but he had been out of the water for some time before he was brought home.

You may be able to get an idea of how long it was , two A4 sheets of paper end to end just about covers it, and a normal size lighter lays beside it. I still can't imagine cutting it up for bait, alas he now resides in my freezer. I wonder if Felix who has taken up residence at every opportunity on my bed, would like a feed.

A Nun's Life

Having an absence yet again from the blog world, today I thought I would share a few small photos of some happenings here in the tropics.

Herbert the peacock still visits. Some days I do not see him and yes I do worry. However, hanging out the window and calling him, quite often I see Herbert running up from the bush down the back or from across the road. He eagerly awaits his morsels of whole grain bread which is brought especially for him. I was pleased when I came home one day and found Herbert sitting by my front stairs as you can see in the photo. Felix has got used to him and just sits and looks, Herbert unfazed by the cat who I am sure would dearly love to eat him.

Speaking of Felix, he is quite the spoilt one. Not only does he camp on my bed but sees fit to scream at me whenever I enter the kitchen. Don't mind the brushing he also receives, there is someone out there who never fails to remind me to brush this grey fluff ball. Felix is a true master of this house. Poor Tikky my other cat just takes each day and you hardly know he is around. Felix decided to bring me a present one night, how lovely. I had to let the poor creature go, be different if it was dead when delivered but alas he was still very lively.

And now to one of my favorite dishes I put together last week. Sea scallops and prawns cooked in curry and coconut milk. Nothing is measured and it is kind of a throw it together recipe. Served on a bed of white rice, the end result is satisfying.

I'm not thirsty anymore

Felix had his check up, he has a way to go before he is back to his former self and he was non too pleased when Julia gave him a vitamin B shot...he actually went and sat, face buried in the corner away from us.

When I spotted him quenching his thirst in a way that Felix knows best, I smiled and knew he is on his way back. I may have been happy to see the old returning in some small way but my desire for a glass of water rapidly waned. I love my cat but think it stops at sharing the same drinking vessel.

TA DAAA I'M BACK

Hooray, am finally back! What a nightmare last week and a half. With all the whining and bitching I done over the computer, it finally died and a new hard drive has had to be installed. Wish I had of got this new system before I ok'd the repairs. I miss the dinosaur...am not used to this new system with buttons and knobs on a fancy keyboard...lots of cursing am so glad you all can't hear me. Then to make it worse, this silly vista shyte is a real pain in the arse. I want XP back!!

Lots been happening, my poor baby Felix got poisoned with an organo phosphate, and it was traced back to , can you believe this, hair treatment for head lice. Felix likes to lick and he innocently licked the kids pillow and lo and behold got himself a dose that caused frothing at the mouth, constant fitting, was not a pretty site. Many dollars later in vets fees, a few tears, well lots actually, he is home but he is not the same. After a week, he is still suffering the effects of the poison but he is off on another jaunt tomorrow for a check up to see what if any permanent damage he has.

Life can't get much more frustrating, and all good things do come to those who wait.....H E L L O , I am waiting. I finally have my house back to myself. I miss my music that I had stored on my system so its going to be a long process re-installing it all again. All my photos are gone, am lucky most of them were also stored in emals. Yes I have missed blogs and am glad to be back . Can't promise what I am going to write about over the next few days.

I had a laugh today when in the bottle shop drive through, the attendant sported this hair style, now can you picture yourselves fronting up to work with such a stylish hairdo?? I secretly bet my hobby farm consultant would love it.

Am off on a tour of blogs, thank you to those who emailed me enquiring, your thoughts are appreciated and most welcome.

P.S...Can someone tell me how to get this retched Norton off my system, got to travel to Z, back to B, then onto F, and around to M , bet it was all designed by a man too !

This Cat has 9 Lives...

We have all heard the saying that cats have nine lives, I think Chloe the moggy used up a few on her ride atop an ambulance being driven at 100km/h with lights flashing and sirens screaming. Chloe managed to hang on for the 13km ride and was only realised when she alerted her owner, the driving ambulance officer to her presence when he arrived to pick up the patient.

Even Felix feels the Cold

With temperatures dropping down to 15c (15 degree Celsius = 59 degree Fahrenheit) overnight, even Felix is feeling the cold.

Purrrfect Love

Mäuschen is a 500kg bear and her best friend is a cat, Muschi. They have been friends for three years at the Berlin Zoo and the the friendship was never more evident than when separated due to renovations, Muschi cried for Mäuschen until they were re-united.

The cat was searching so long and cried for Mäuschen that the Zoo-direction decided to put her back to the bear. One of the caregivers said: "When the cat saw the bear she directly ran to her. The bear opened her paws and the cat cureled herself together and purred."
Can't help but say "Awwww, Cute".

He serenades me

Tikky is Mum's boy, he sings to me at will, and yes I talk to him like he knows what I am saying. He is my agony aunt, my cuddle bunny. I am his chef and saviour from over enthusiastic children.

The True Masters of the House

Tikky is the tabby and Felix is the grey. Not many photos of Tikky as Felix is the poser out of the two. Definitely Masters in this home.
