I'll have a baby, the gov't will pay for it

I should of been paying more attention as to who the politician was being interviewed and when I do find out I shall post his name in here. Making a statement about the baby bonus paid out to parent/s of newborns. This guy was saying that having a newborn brings enormous expenses, if the mother was working she has to contend with loss of income and its a huge change in lifestyles..... no kidding ! Whether or not the pregnancy is planned, yes it is a big adjustment to one's life. If you plan on having a new child why should tax payers pay for something that is solely your choice? If the pregnancy wasn't planned and is deemed an accident , why pay for lack of responsibility? People need to take more responsibility for their own actions and not expect the government and ultimately the tax payer to hand over such a large sum of money. One wonders if the birth rate would drop if the baby bonus was scrapped completely.

I agree people should take responsibility for their own actions. People are always so quick to blame someone else or make someone else accountable!

Totally agree.
