Giant Moth



Measuring 26cm wing tip-to-wing tip, this giant moth appeared on the veranda of a home north of Cairns. It is known as a Hercules moth.
The giant insects have a 10-day lifespan and are attracted to veranda lights, Australian Butterfly Sanctuary manager Anja Bakker says.

Did you click on the link to look? It's a picture of the actual one that landed on me! Thank goodness it didn't flutter around as much as moths usually do.

Yes Cherie, it's still quite big though. Good photo too, I was checking out his feelers LOL.
