Lets have a BBQ

A grill almost 1 mile in length, six tonnes of charcoal and 12 tonnes of beef and what do you have? The worlds largest bbq. Uruguay hosted the guiness book of records event with 1,250 volunteers armed with tongs to make it a success.

Bbq's here in Australia are a favorite backyard pastime and there are many variations, it isn't just a sausages and steak cook off. You can't have a bbq without the obligatory onion rings, homemade rissoles or hamburgers, prawns, kebabs, fish, corn, steak, veges and of course there is a variety of salads to accompany them. Coleslaw, a tossed salad, don't forget the ice cold drinks, usually beer.

I know the American bbq's vary from the Aussie ones, wonder if other countries have their own version.

I love to have a BBQ bit always seems to bring on rain no matter how sunny it was before! I cook all sorts on them even mixed veggie kebab sticks and stuffed mushrooms. MMM! I fancy one right now :-)

Here they do shaslik in the forest, with appropriate amounts of the amber fluid or vodka.

We don't have barbecues in Scotland because as cherrypie says it is always bloody raining.

Instead we leave the barbecueing to the kebab restaurants, which we frequent late at night when we are drunk.
